My Visions for CCSD
Success
Leadership training – There is a huge difference
between being a boss and leader. The constant growth of CCSD brings many
challenges. I will continue to advocate for better leadership training
for our administrators. Good leaders will help the environment at our
schools, which will increase student achievement.
Empowerment Schools - As
a current member of the Clark County School Board, I have been a strong
voice in the movement towards Empowerment Schools. These unique schools
will allow campus administrators, staff and parents to have greater
decision making authority with fewer constraints from central office.
Parental involvement – I firmly believe
parents are the key to the success of their child’s education. Teachers
cannot educate our students alone. Studies show if parents take simple
steps like overseeing homework, reading with their children and meeting
with the teacher, this will make a difference in the achievement of
their child. I will continue to advocate for more parental involvement
through administrators in schools, PTA’s, PTO’s and other parent
groups.
