Healthy
Kids
Staying healthy is so important. Without your health you have nothing.
Throughout my
involvement in education I have advocated for lifelong wellness for the
children in Clark County . My involvement with Action for Healthy Kids
was instrumental in improving & implementing
healthier nutritional standards
for students throughout the district.

Serving as your
Trustee, I have seen firsthand how many of our children come to school
hungry. Many times the only meals they receive are at school. If they
are hungry they cannot think or learn. We have several partnerships
with local charities to provide healthy food for our children.
The Nevada Department
of Education passed a nutrition
policy setting standards for all schools in our state.

According to the
federal No Child Left Behind law, every school in the country will have
a wellness coordinator on staff. This person can be a staff member or a
parent volunteer but the focus will be on
keeping our students and staff healthy
to help them learn better and live longer.
